When I talk to my friend about cherry blossom (sakura), 10 out of 10 will said they want to visit Japan to see the sakura. Why sakura is so famous in Japan ? let us read and see if the answer is there....

I paid a visit to Kyoto with the purpose of taking pictures of sakura around there to show it to my friends, but it seem that the response is very good, not just from my friends but from friend's friends, so I decided to put it on the net from all of you to see.

The following photos were taken on 6th April 2009 in Maruyama Koen (Maruyama park) in Kyoto, Japan. I was lucky to have a blue sky that day.

Party under the sakura trees, just order some food from the stores and you can sit down here and enjoy, at night, this place is light up, do stay until night to see this as not many tourist are able to experience the real joy of party under the sakura trees during full bloom, the food here may be slightly more expansive compare to shops in town, but look, VIP seat for you to enjoy !!!

This sakura tree is 400 years old, don't miss the chance of taking a photo here.

The light up at night, you need to have a tripot to take good photo at night.

Around the park, you can also see huge old sakura trees, the feeling is real good if you are there on the spot.

Sakura hanging down from its branches.....
Remember, never plug any of the flowers.

An old sakura tree, need support for its branches.

As many people do not know that further in into maruyama koen, there are many big sakura trees like this one. If you visit this place next time, don't miss this one, very few people around here.

Next let go to Kiyomizu dera (Kiyomizu temple) in Kyoto, Japan.
Never miss this place as it is one of the most visited spot by tourist.

Whatever season you visit this place, it is always full of tourist, this place become more pack with tourist during cherry blossom season as many will stay they longer for photo.

Not the main temple but is a distinctive landmark here.

I like this tower so another shot from different angle.

One more, the last one.

Unfortunately, the sakura in from of this gate has not bloom yet, may be another week to go.

Close of of the sakura flower, with some yellow leaves at the back ground for better contrast, it is always better to have green background, let see some other photos to come with green background.

Next let go to Heian Jingu (Heian Shrine) in Kyoto, Japan.

Heian jingu torii, sakura and clean river.

Bridge heading toward heian jingu with sakura on both side of the river.

Take a river cruise, the water is very clean and tour guide will explain to you as well, but I think is in Japanese language.

Do you believe this water here is discharge from the household ?

Take a break, take an "onigiri" (japanese rice ball).
Lets go to Goshou, the olden day palace in Kyoto, Japan.
A local residence here in Kyoto suggest me to come here.

Another type of sakura.

This photo doesn't look very attractive may be due to the sunlight.

I like the sakura form into a flower ball.

If you want to know the location, let me know, tourist seldom come here, only local japanese come here, 30 to 40 minutes from kyoto.

Actually this tree have a mixture of different colour of flowers.

Here are the white one, a few red flower can also be seen.

Mix of white and red in a single flower.

This one is a mixture of red and pink.

You want this picture for you desktop background ?

Half-Half, may be only one out of a million.

The white gene is stronger than the red gene, that is why you get more white than red. Sorry, I am not biologist, just a joke.

Too heavy that it need supporting structure.
White sakura. You can have a party under the trees but make sure you clean it up before you go.

This is the entrance to the botanical garden
